How to start a WordPress Blog
This is an overview of how to install WordPress and install a WP theme and in this example, we also include installing the MTS package. MTS becomes a fast one-click blog or website, leaving you to concentrate on the writing!
Starting a WordPress Blog with a My Theme Shop Theme is very simple. You need to make sure that you’re using the latest version of PHP in your host. You can ask for it to be changed if not. Or you can find it lower down in your CPanel. You click change PHP Version. And choose the latest one 7.3 for example and click save.
SSL For Secure Websites
Next, you ensure you have SSL by using the SSL status checker, view if there is an auto SSL installed. Alternatively, you can self-sign (using Lets Encrypt). It can be a good idea to select extra options such as web disk, especially if you plan on selling anything.
Finally, you are ready to install WordPress. I use it with backward compatibility. Even though MTS themes are compatible with Gutenberg and are updated, I prefer starting my blog in WordPress 4.9
I select https and create my password. I also use [email protected] instead of [email protected] as I tend to get a lot of spam otherwise. I put my regular email address at the bottom to store my installation and click install.
Changing The WordPress Theme Once Installed
Now the I upload MTS Theme from my downloads folder in my computer. I go to Appearance, Themes, Add New from the Dashboard. And pop the MTS zip in.
Next, I click install. Everything should be installed in under a minute. You will be taken to an install necessary plugins page and then you click bulk install the necessary plugins and bulk activate.
Activating Your Theme License (May Vary)
Finally, you will visit the plugins and theme updater. You enter your user name and password for your MTS account and you only have to do this once. This installs your license.
Installing A Theme Layout Or WordPress Demo
Your MTS theme has some great demo layouts included for free. You go to Theme Options at the top of the Dashboard. Now at the bottom left you’ll click import and layout + widgets. Click install.
